New ambulances for the City of Rotterdam

NEW AMBULANCES BASED ON
MERCEDES BENZ SPRINTER

Recently, the delivery of new ambulances - based on Mercedes Benz Sprinter - for the City of Rotterdam (The Netherlands) took place. The exterior and interior vehicle design is based on the individual request of the customer. Below we show you pictures illustrating the vehicles.

Front and side view:

The ambulance on Mercedes Benz Sprinter base has a paint scheme following the request of the customer. The striking colors, accompanied by a modern emergency lights system, ensure optimal visibility on the road.

Rear of the vehicle:

We integrated LED's into a GRP-panel, which is mounted at the vehicle's upper rear area. This increases the warning effect for following traffic. We also included a rear view camera.

A footstep, made of aluminium, fulfills two different functions: first, it eases entering the ambulance. Second, due to its construction, it is an impact protection and shock absorber for minor collisions.

Patient's compartment:

In the upper region of the partition wall we included a stowage area, which provides additional storage space.

An ergonomically shaped foldable seat at the partition wall ensures optimal access to the head of the patient. An automatic two-point-lap-belt secures the attendant.

The stretcher fixation can be shifted sideways to provide more space and incereasing flexibility. Below the stretcher fixation a spinal board can be stored.

View of the left sidewall:

A full-length storage compartment at the rear left end provides secure storage of oxygen bottles. Easy access is given by a foldable plexiglass screen.

Of particular note is our new interior: s
idewalls, wheel arches and ceiling of the patient's compartment consist of only three GRP-form parts, what optimizes the cleaning and disinfecting. The GRP-parts have been stucked together to an unity and guarantee for highest hygiene claims. Curves diminish the injury danger for patient and attendant. Besides, GRP material - in contrast to ABS plastic - appears non-yellowing, still after years.

The high strength of GRP prevents a splintering of the panels if a crash occurs... an important safety aspect.

Right sidewall:

On the right sidewall there ishigh cabinet for housing a vacuum mattress. Access via an up-to-open roller shutter.

Partition wall:

The cabinets at the partition wall have been developed in cooperation with the customer, too. Thus, the right top cabinet has a pull-out storage element, which is intended for installation of a defibrillator. Below it, two emergency kits and a 2 liters replacement oxygen bottle can be stowed. Optimal accessibility is ensured by extendible drawers. Behind, located next to the partition wall, an insertion possibility for a scoop stretcher is foreseen. In the bottom area a side-drawer element for two 10 liter oxygen bottles takes place. To allow oxygen use during the trip, front access to the pressure reducer is also given.
